Our history
rebel can trace its history back to 1985 when the first store was opened in Bankstown NSW.
Since then, rebel has grown to become the leading retailer of sporting and leisure equipment, apparel and footwear in Australia.
We offer our customers an incomparable range of the biggest brands and latest products.
rebel today, has 160 stores across Australia and we employ over 6000 employees.
At rebel, we have a genuine passion for a healthy lifestyle and providing our customers with what they need to achieve their fitness goals. Our culture is based on delivering outstanding Customer Focus as driven by our core values.
We are part of Sports Retail, which is a proud division of the Super Retail Group.
Our team members’ skill and dedication are our greatest assets.
We are committed to further enhancing our team members’ skills through career development and training.
Team members are encouraged to participate in various certificate courses to further enhance their skills such as Certificate 3 in Retail and Certificate 4 in Retail Management. Both courses are supported by our internal Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
Retail can provide you with a fulfilling career and rebel offers endless opportunities in stores, corporate support departments or both.
We are part of the Super Retail Group and together we are the seventh biggest retailer in Australia in terms of sales. So, working with rebel can also open up doors to opportunities in Super Cheap Auto, BCF (Boating Camping Fishing) and Macpac. We have a growing network of stores across Australia and New Zealand, and support offices in Brisbane and Sydney.
We offer an attractive team member benefits package that includes: in-store discounts; a rewards program that offers discounts with hundreds of other local and international retailers; and an employee assistance program that provides confidential counselling for any personal or professional challenges.
We also encourage our team members to pursue career paths through in-house development, and completing nationally recognised retail and management qualifications through our Enterprise Registered Training Organisation.
We invite suitable applicants to either a group or individual interview. Group interviews are often used for store recruitment and provide our store management team the opportunity to assess your performance working within groups.
Individual interviews are often second interviews for store team member positions, or first and second interviews for store management and support office positions.
During these interviews you’ll be asked behavioural and competency based questions where you’ll need to provide examples of how you performed in a situation in your current or past jobs. For support office positions you may also be asked to participate in an assessment centre, which could include presentations, role plays or other assessment exercises.
Each participant is assessed against our competency and values framework with a view to selecting those who best align with the rebel culture.
Our values are based on passion, openness, integrity, care and discipline. We actively recruit people who are aligned with our values because we expect our team members to embrace and live our values during their work with us.
If you apply for a role with us, good luck and we hope to see you soon.
