The Multicultural Council of Tasmania is the state’s peak body for ethnic communities and aims to improve access for culturally and linguistically diverse Tasmanians to social, economic and political life in Tasmania. The Multicultural Hub is the home office of the Multicultural Council of Tasmania and a facility managed for use by community groups, stakeholders and the general community on behalf of the Glenorchy City Council and the Tasmanian Government.
The Multicultural Community Development Manager is an exciting and rewarding role that is responsible for supporting the development of ethnic organisations and individuals in relation to the social and cultural life of their communities.
The overriding objective of the role is to build capacity of representatives and members of multicultural groups with a key focus on managing, planning and overseeing the programming for the Multicultural Hub, including ensuring that there is optimal use by a broad range of communities including newly arrived migrants.
The Multicultural Community Development Manager is expected to efficiently manage the Multicultural Council of Tasmania’s day-to-day operations via the Multicultural Hub in a financially prudent and efficient manner. This includes coordinating and supervising staff, volunteers, marketing, communications, stakeholder engagement and business development functions. The position will be in close liaison with people of diverse, beliefs, language, culture, visa status and age.
We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships and trust from the ground up in a multicultural working environment.
