Reporting to the General Counsel, the Manager – Internal Audit will be responsible for ensuring the audit systems and processes are in place to support the business in actively managing the internal audit function with a focus on going beyond mere compliance and adding value through process improvement.

With a strong commercial focus, you will ensure the provision of independent objective assurance and consulting designed to add value and improve Synergy’s operations. Furthermore, your role will support change and implement continuous improvement in services offered and play an integral role in supporting the business’s overarching corporate vision and achievement of strategic initiatives.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Ensuring compliance with Synergy’s compliance policies and standards;
  • Maintaining and improving Synergy’s internal audit practice, framework and plan;
  • Co-ordination and execution of internal audits as per plan, through both internal/external resources;
  • Managing potential outsourcing of internal audit services to ensure efficient and effective delivery; and
  • Monitoring completion of specific actions to address identified audit issues, escalating to Synergy’s executive leadership team and board committees.

To be successful you will have experience in a similar in-house position with deep experience in internal audit in complex business environments, with a track record of effective and efficient audit management. Collaboration and effective engagement across stakeholders are critical, along with a strong customer focus and experience working with Boards in a complex regulatory environment. Demonstrable systematic and disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of audit management, control and governance processes is essential.
