A bit about your role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Commercial Manager to join our Wholesale Supply team. This team is responsible for creating and cultivating supply deals and arrangements that provide a platform for nbn and its Retail Service Providers to drive better outcomes in the market, building and sustaining defences that keep nbn in control of its business. Wholesale Supply is part of the broader Wholesale Product and Supply team, which sits within the Residential Sales & Marketing RSM business unit and also supports the Business Sector (BSM).

Your new role reports to the Executive Manager, Residential and while this is an individual contributor position, you will be given the opportunity to lead, coach and mentor up-and-coming members of the team. You will be responsible for leading or supporting the performance of the team’s responsibilities with regard to nbn and RSPs’ needs and priorities, the needs and priorities of the Executive Manager, Residential, as well as your own individual strengths, interests and development goals.

As a key member of the team, you will be expected to:

  • Support the Executive Manager, Residential with the achievement of the team’s mission and the continuous improvement of the team’s processes and operations;
  • Contribute to strategic leadership on the company’s commercial positions and priorities as they relate to its supply deals and arrangements;
  • Perform all of your responsibilities with increasing autonomy over time, consistently with nbn’s business processes and in full compliance with the legislative and regulatory rules that impact nbn’s supply deals, arrangements and relationships;
  • Make sound and mature judgements as to when you should seek guidance, direction or approval from or escalate to senior management and executives;
  • Shape and shepherd effective and efficient escalations on a wide range of matters arising from contract negotiations, consultations and implementations, advisory and solutions work, and broader customer, internal and external stakeholder engagements;
  • Establish and maintain strong and enduring relationships with customer, internal and external stakeholders at all levels;
  • Demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with nearly all of the company’s business units; and
  • Embrace nbn’s values – ‘we deliver’, ‘we are fearless’, ‘we are one team’ and ‘we care’ – and act as a positive force within the team.

This is role is a chance for you to showcase your commercial management experience within an ever changing environment. You will be working at the heart of the business and be across all divisions of nbn with a wide stakeholder group to interact with.

A bit about you

This role would suit someone who has experience in the telecommunications industry. You will likely be working within a similar role and have an understanding of legal and regulatory imperatives. You will be able to demonstrable an ability to negotiate complex commercial, operational and technical outcomes, and engage bilaterally with customers and multilaterally with industry to agree supply deals and arrangements. Ideally you will also have proven experience in leading cross functional teams.
