Southport Sharks has an exciting and interesting football history dating back to when it was founded in 1961. Participating in the NEAFL and playing home games at Fankhauser Reserve, we have 23 Senior Premierships under our belt and continue to build up our reputation of being a fiercely competitive and successful club.

Hosting over a million visitors annually, Southport Sharks is one of the largest clubs in Queensland with over 55,000 members. Our facility offers a multi-purpose events centre, two restaurants, café, five bars, 24/7 fitness centre, kids club, gaming facilities and free weekly entertainment.

Central to the Gold Coast Health and Knowledge precinct, the business also includes Mantra at Sharks, a 120 rooms hotel, two conference rooms and a rooftop bar.

About the Role …

Southport Sharks is seeking an experienced and driven Football Manager to build a strong AFLQ football reputation within the local community.

Reporting to the General Manager – Football Operations, you will be responsible for developing and leading the strategy for the Women’s Football Department and coordinating operational processes, including talent identification and list management. You will actively contribute to a cohesive team, imparting knowledge, encouraging high standards and facilitating coaching and playing excellence with a view to achieving departmental goals.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will ensure the organisation and presentation of the team on and off the field is always executed in an efficient, timely and efficient manner. You will also source and organise coaching and player support staff.

You will also possess the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including the NEAFL, Gold Coast Suns, Southport Juniors, Gold Coast clubs and the FSC.

About you…

  • Current knowledge of sports management methodology and experience in AFL or similar environment.
  • Proven experience in women's football in either coaching, playing or both.
  • Highly developed communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to influence and negotiate with others.
  • A strong personal brand, including displaying a strong set of values, integrity and a commitment to professionalism and accountability.
  • Tertiary qualification preferred.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with a strength in building relationships with players and staff.
  • Exhibits high levels of sound and ethical foundations in decision making and strong consistent principles underlying management and leadership behaviours.
  • Willingness to uphold the values and behaviours of Southport Sharks.

The successful candidate must be available to work two evenings during the week for training and one day on the weekend, as per the QFA fixture.
