This position provides technical advice and support in the management of public trees. The position works collaboratively with managers, coordinators, and leading hands within the Infrastructure and Works Directorate, as well as staff across the Town and external agencies, the community, suppliers, and contractors to meet service delivery requirements with regards to the health, safety, and presentation of the Town's urban forest.

Accordingly, the successful candidate will demonstrate the following;

  • Demonstrated experience in the tree management and maintenance field.
  • Knowledge of industry best practice and issues in tree management and maintenance including risk management.
  • Ability to efficiently plan for, prioritise and meet timelines and complete relevant administration, technical and project management tasks associated with the position.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills and sound communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continual improvement.
  • Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships with peers, stakeholders, customers and community groups and an ability to work as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in computer use with the ability to use various parks operations project related software.
  • Formal qualification/s in Arboriculture or similar qualification and/or demonstrated equivalent experience.
  • Qualification in quantified tree risk assessment or equivalent and experience in preparing arboriculture reports.
