Environmental Monitoring Technician

Site: Cloudbreak & Christmas Creek

Roster: 8:6

Fortescue is seeking a passionate and driven environmental monitoring technician to undertake environmental compliance monitoring across both Cloudbreak and Christmas Creek Mine sites on a 8 days on 6 days off roster.

Reporting to the Environment Superintendent, you role will be to primarily undertake groundwater monitoring activities required under various environmental approvals in accordance with the monitoring schedule; including field activities, equipment maintenance, QA/QC, data entry and analysis. Additional responsibilities include assisting the Environment team with implementation of environmental programs to manage environmental impact risks.

Experience in groundwater monitoring is advantageous

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Undertake groundwater monitoring in accordance with relevant procedures, schedules and relevant Australian Standards
  • Maintain field monitoring equipment
  • Ensure QA/QC of monitoring data
  • Data entry and verification
  • Analyse and interpret monitoring data from field and laboratory measurements
  • Provide support and assistance to the Environment Team in all areas of environmental management

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Experience in environmental monitoring techniques, particularly groundwater monitoring
  • Ability to work alone, independently and in remote areas
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and prioritise tasks
  • Positive can do attitude
  • Highly motivated team player
  • Degree or qualification in environmental science/management desired but not essential
