Heritage project officer

Under general direction, this position will contribute to, or lead, departmental projects relating to World Heritage and National Heritage initiatives.

A significant part of this role will be to assist in the preparation of the World Heritage nomination for Murujuga; a State Government election commitment being undertaken in partnership with the Murujuga Aboriginal Corporation. Under the guidance of senior departmental staff and the advice of the independent World Heritage Advisor, this will involve:

  • researching, collating and analysing information and data;
  • writing various documents, including parts of the nomination dossier;
  • assisting in managing the project’s administrative and governance frameworks;
  • implementing and reviewing communication and engagement documents; and
  • liaising with Traditional Owners, various levels of government, industry, community and other stakeholders to ensure the social, economic, spiritual and cultural values are all carefully considered throughout the nomination process.

The role will also entail undertaking or managing special projects and providing advice to the Manager, Aboriginal Engagement, Planning and Lands Branch or other senior staff, on heritage related matters.
