Yard hand - truck and machinery

With a new leadership team, our Trucks, Machinery and Industrial business are embarking on a major transformation, supporting global and regional growth strategies and new product launches.

A fantastic opportunity has become available for an experienced Yardhand in our Truck, Machinery & Industrial Division at our Altona North site. This is a permanent, full-time position working predominantly 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday (Sat as required). Our Yardhands assist with the processing of all incoming/outgoing assets, preparing and running each auction. This position is responsible for providing attention to detail with the highest level of accuracy.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Working in our Truck, Machinery and Industrial yard operating a forklift to load and unload stock
  • Maintain auction vehicles & loading of the auction area
  • Liaise with the sales/administration team and truck drivers as required
  • Assist with the preparation of auctions i.e. lotting of vehicles, Auction pad set up
  • Ensure that assets are processed in line with pre-defined customer standards and customer-specified timeframes
  • Photograph all assets (front, internal, both sides & rear including visible faults) according to written and verbal instructions; using digital photographic equipment and company-supplied handheld IT systems
  • With a high level of accurately book in all assets using a hand-held company supplied IT System
  • From time to time assist fellow team members in our passenger/ light vehicle and salvage division
  • Potential intra/interstate travel from time to time to assist with regional on-site auctions & to assist other Manheim site’s due to increased workloads as required

As our successful candidate, you will have:

  • A current manual motor vehicle driver’s license
  • Experience in operating a forklift (must have a forklift license)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to follow a process and carry out work in an independent manner
  • Ability to work with others co-operatively
  • Basic computer skills
  • System experience related to either, material handling & transportation would be advantages
  • Strong desire to grow in this role with Manheim and become part of a successful team
