Team Leader – Government Reporting

The Team Leader – Government Reporting is accountable for the leadership of the government reporting activities within the Academic Administration business area. This position is responsible for ensuring that the Institute meets its obligations for accurate and comprehensive reporting to the Australian and State Governments of training delivery and assessment activities.

This position focuses on accuracy in data collection, management and reporting to ensure the Institute’s contractual, legislative and regulatory requirements are met. This includes identifying opportunities for improvements to the Institute’s business processes and the student management system.

Your key accountabilities will be to:
  • Lead the successful identification and rectification of inconsistencies, omissions and errors in enrolment data on the Institute’s student management system, STRATA.

  • Ensure compliance with reporting requirements and reporting deadlines so as to maximise cash flow from the Victorian Department of Education and Training’s payment management system, SVTS, and minimise risk of non-payment.

  • Ensure VET Student Loans (VSL) and FEE-HELP (FH) compliance and reporting through Australian Government’s reporting IT system, HEPCAT/TCSI, to HEIMS.

  • Ensure external reporting is undertaken in a timely manner and meets compliance requirements which includes Interstate AVETMISS reporting, Centrelink reporting and DELTA/Epsilon administration (Victorian Government’s apprenticeship/traineeship management system).

  • Identify system issues and identify root causes.

  • Identify and provide advice on leveraging opportunities critical to excellence in operational activities.

  • Provide high level advice, including estimates and/or forecasts of expected VSL/FH/SVTS income where appropriate for internal clients such as the Executive Directors Leadership Group, Chisholm Leadership Group, business area management and educators.


You will have a relevant Degree level qualification in an appropriate discipline; or significant work experience within a student administration and reporting environment overseeing multiple and complex functions

Crucial to your success will be your proven track record in providing high-level reporting and administrative support in a fast-paced environment and have a high level of computer competence with strong Microsoft Office skills.

You will provide service excellence to and effectively engage a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. You will also have proven experience in process improvement and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of the advanced operations of the STRATA Student Management System would be highly desirable.
