Women’s & Children’s Services

The recently opened, purpose built Joan Kirner Women's and Children's (JKWC) building includes capacity for 20 birthing rooms, 4 brand new active birth pools, dedicated obstetric theatres, 64 family friendly inpatient rooms, SCN cots and a newly opened NICU.

The maternity service supports specialist maternity clinics, an all risk caseload midwifery model, a high care unit and dedicated bereavement rooms and facilities for supporting families across the continuum.

Midwives are supported to grow professionally with access to 24/7 clinical support. There is support to develop clinical knowledge and skills or undertake research with key academic partners.

Maternity Services

You will work with a high level of autonomy and responsibility across the maternity continuum from antenatal bookings through to birth and home-based postnatal visits, with further opportunities to participate in day-stay pregnancy monitoring, maternity triage, specialist clinics and lactation support.

Our ideal candidates will have:

  • Registration as Midwife with AHPRA
  • Minimum 12 months Post Graduate Midwifery experience
  • Enthusiasm to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary maternity care model
  • Experience across the scope of maternity care
  • Great communication skills
  • Most importantly, a commitment to high quality, safe and person centred maternity care!

Midwifery Group Practice

We have an opportunity to work in a Midwifery Group Practice all risk model with a current team of 25 midwives providing care to women from diverse backgrounds, including opportunity to provide care to women who identify as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander.

Midwives in the MGP also provide care to women accessing the public homebirth programme.

Our ideal candidates will;

  • Be registered as Midwife with AHPRA
  • Have minimum 12 months Post Graduate Midwifery experience
  • Have experience across the scope of maternity care including caseload model
  • Hold a current Victorian driver’s license
  • Be able to work across a 7 day rotating roster including on call
  • Most importantly, a commitment to high quality, safe and person centred maternity care!

Sunshine – 80 hours Permanent Full-time – Closing 31st December 2019            ____________________________________________________________________
