Executive Manager - Operational Risk, WIB And Divisional Level


As one of the key leaders in our Operational Risk - WIB GTS and Divisional level businesses, you'll have an essential role to play in an equally-essential part of the Westpac Group. It's a role that will see you partnering businesses and providing, outcome-focused risk and control advice, insight and challenge that influence decisions.

Reporting to the Head of Operational Risk, WIB & Treasury, key responsibilities include

  • Assessing Offshore risk identification and remediation (and identifying and escalating emerging risk themes and coordinate efforts)
  • To provide an independent, 2nd Line oversight of the effectiveness of the business' operational risk management practices, ensuring appropriate documentation and evidence of challenge.
  • To lead deep dives into issues, incidents and near misses and providing specialist advice and guidance from these reviews.
  • To provide the business with insights into emerging risks arising from potential changes in business strategy, thematic reviews of internal events, key external learnings or changes in inherent risk environment.
  • To provide full transparency on, and ensure impact analysis from, Group wide change initiatives having offshore impact.

    What do I need?
    We'd expect you to have proven experience in a similar Senior Operational Risk Management role and have managed a remote and diverse stakeholder group - ideally within Banking and Financial Services with a relevant tertiary qualifications. You'll also need to have proven exposure to risk management frameworks and exposure to retail and investment banking activity and associated processes will he highly regarded.
