About us

The School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering delivers undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and high-quality research in civil and mechanical engineering. The school has extensive laboratory facilities including pavement/geotechnology research facilities and water laboratory enhancements.

Curtin is recognised internationally as a leader in graduate research studies and for the breadth and quality of its research higher degree programs and offers Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering.

Your new role

We have an excellent opportunity for a part time Research Officer to join the team and work on an Australian Research Council funded Linkage scheme project.  The project entitled ‘Field Scale Biocementation in Remediation and Self-Healing’, is aimed at commercialisation of Biocementation technology
Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating and managing the project between academia and industry partners.
  • Assisting the Chief Investigators in developing and executing strategies for commercialisation of the newly formulated research product.
  • Liaising between academia and industry for transition of the technology, business planning and development.
  • Being part of the planning and general management of set up and operational activities of the project to be conducted in Australia and India.
You will bring to the role
  • Completion of a relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Strong discipline specific knowledge and experience in relevant scientific/research methods, techniques and protocols.
  • Exceptional organisational skills with the ability to coordinate and implement project activities, prioritise work activities and meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills with the ability analyse and present data.
  • Effective written communication skills with the ability to construct clear and concise reports.
  • Effective interpersonal and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally with people of all levels with cross cultural sensitivity.
  • Competence in the use of computer applications, including Microsoft Office, and cloud based software.
  • Ability to work effectively, independently and with others as a team.
