Job Description:

The Role

You will be involved in a diverse range of projects including Transport Strategies, Precinct Planning, Active Transport Plans, Public transport analytics, and others, for Sydney as well as regional NSW. Build your career through support and training as part of our dedicated Transport Advisory team in St Leonards.

We consider all modes of transportation and investigate future technology opportunities to improve environmental, economical and social outcomes for the community.

Specifically, your duties will include:

  • Technical support to more senior planners/engineers in the preparation of transport planning and feasibility studies
  • Formulating evidence based recommendations for Transport Policy, Behaviour Change and Infrastructure
  • Review existing planning context, investigate trends and future technology potential to improve Transport outcomes in NSW
  • Provide technical support to many of Cardno’s other interrelated disciplines
  • Write clear and concise communications to disseminate complex ideas into plain English
  • Understand the importance of safety and embrace a reporting culture
  • Collaborate within and across teams to satisfy project requirements

Our clients include Transport for NSW, as well as local Councils and our own internal clients based in Cardno regional or interstate offices.

About you

You will be a proactive, enthusiastic new graduate or junior planner, with the right combination of talent, energy and a commitment to technical excellence.

In order to be successful for this role you will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Planning or related discipline
  • 0-3 years’ experience within transport specialisation
  • Familiarity with MS Office (Word, Excel)
  • Effective communication and report writing skills
  • Mature and professional approach with the a bility to work well in team environments
  • Awareness of standards and guidelines to contribute to practical transport solutions
  • Ability to research ideas, analyse options and formulate defendable recommendations
  • Demonstrated organisation and time management skills
  • Desire to learn and identify opportunities to improve professionally
  • Willingness to learn GIS (on the job training provided)
