Experienced Laundry Assistant Wanted

We are currently seeking a highly experienced, passionate and self-motivated Laundry Assistant for our new 80 Ton capacity laundry at St Vincent’s Private Hospital Sydney.

The Private Hospital Laundry Team are part of the Support Services Department, and manages and coordinates the Laundry Provision of linen services across the Darlinghurst Campus, which includes St Vincent’s Private, St Vincent’s Public Hospital, St Vincent’s Clinic, Sacred Heart Health Service, Kinghorn Cancer Centre, and associated contracts within the Precinct. The department consists of over 25 staff with an annual budget of over $2 million.

The department services 323 Private and over 366 Public hospital beds. In addition, the department provides a variety of services to internal departments as well contracting out cleaning and linen services to affiliated organisations within the Darlinghurst Precinct. You will need to form strong relationships with all Department Managers and work with them to provide a high level product, with the highest priority on patient cantered care and guest service.

Shifts range from:

  • 6am, 7am, 10am & 12pm start times - Rotational

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Experience in a larger or similar size Commercial Laundry Environment and a passion for the patient care, bringing the experience of the Commercial Laundry Industry to our Campus
  • Full understanding and operational experience of CBW Tunnel Wash Systems, Commercial Ironing and Folding System

Duties:

  • Following daily production targets
  • Labour intensive work
  • Sorting through soiled and dirty linen
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Fast paced production work following instructions from Supervisor or Manager
  • Honesty and integrity when dealing and incorporating our hospital mission and values within every facet of our daily operations

Selection Criteria:

  • Experience in a labour intensive commercial laundry environment
  • Must be physically fit
  • Being able to work in a team or unsupervised
  • The ability to set priorities and meet deadlines
  • Be willing to sort dirty linen from hospitals
  • Ability to work 5 days per week with overtime as required, on a 7 day rotational roster. This may include weekends and Public Holidays.
