Therapy Assistant | Part Time | Community North

Bethanie Community is seeking a passionate, organised and energetic Therapy Assistant to work with our clients in their homes as part of the Therapy Team and in our busy Wellness Centres on an ad hoc basis.  We are offering 7.5 hours on Tuesdays with possible additional hours offered throughout the year to provide leave relief to the Living Well Centres. You will be required to drive from client to client and therefore it is a requirement of the role that you have a reliable vehicle and a current driver’s licence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement therapy and lifestyle programs to individual clients
  • Provide In home Therapy under direction from the Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist
  • Adapt activities to client’s level of function under the guidance of a Therapist
  • Address physical and psychological needs and provide opportunities for meaningful engagement for clients living at      home.
  • Prepare Living Well Centres work areas, equipment and materials
  • Maintain accurate documentation (paper and computer based)

Requirements:

  • Willingness to uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of The Bethanie Group Inc.
  • Previous experience in a Therapy Assistant role or Certificate 3 or 4 Allied Health Assistant essential.
  • Clear communication in both a verbal and written capacity with care recipients, families and team members
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as an individual
  • Well-developed literacy and numeracy skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated skills with technology/devices/computer programs that are intended for therapy benefits (e.g. Microsoft Office, Wii, iPad and apps etc.)
  • Current Police Clearance, or willingness to apply for one
  • Current basic First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain one
  • Valid drivers licence and access to a reliable vehicle
