u&u is proud to partner with one of Queensland’s largest water businesses, managing and operating major bulk water infrastructure assets encompasses dams, weirs, water treatment plants and pipeline networks ensuring safe, secure and reliable water supply.

Due to continued growth and new investment in this sector, our client is expanding their Operations team with an exciting opportunity for an experienced Dam Safety Engineer to join the Water Resources team.

About the Role

Reporting to the Principal Dam Safety Engineer, you will assist the team in managing dam safety requirements across our client’s assets, with meeting legislation requirements by reviewing Emergency Action Plans, providing dam safety advice, conduction operational inspections of dams and managing dam safety documentation and systems.

Key Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Manage on-going routine interaction with Dam Safety and Flood Management Stakeholders managing stakeholder correspondence;
  • Review Dam Safety Management Program in accordance with regulatory requirements;
  • Undertake audits of the Dam Safety Management Program in accordance with the requirement of the Queensland Dam Safety Regulator;
  • Provide engineering input dam safety advice focused on the structural safety and operations of dams and undertake dam safety inspections and reviews of dams; and
  • Organise and conduct Dam Safety and Flood Management workshops with Stakeholders to collaborate approaches to Dam Safety and flood management actions.

Skills & Requirements:

  • The ability to provide dam safety engineering advice in relation to the structural safety of dams;
  • Able to liaise closely with stakeholder agencies to determine their requirements relating to Dam Safety Emergency Action Plans;
  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline;
  • High level understanding and knowledge of: engineering safety management of dams, dam safety legislation and flood operations for dams; and
  • Class ‘C’ drivers licence.

Offering the opportunity to work out of multiple office locations this position will also require the successful candidate to travel to sites as required. You will have access to pool vehicles therefore it is important you hold a current open drivers licence.
