Royal Rehab is a leading rehabilitation and disability support provider and registered non-profit organisation. Royal Rehab is highly regarded for specialist brain and spinal cord injury rehabilitation. Our services also incorporate supported accommodation, a private hospital, a purpose-built spinal cord injury resort and community services that provide our clients with holistic quality care.

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Social Worker with experience in Spinal Cord Injury or rehabilitation to join a dynamic and experienced inpatient multidisciplinary team.

Your main duties will include:

Provision of high quality, evidence-based Social Work clinical service for clients in the Spinal Injury Unit (SIU). This includes counselling to assist clients and their family/carers to deal with the emotional impact of injury, illness and disability and to undertake case planning, liaison, advocacy and referral to maximise access to appropriate community services.

We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers and commitment to the AASW Code of Ethics
  • Minimum 3 years post-graduate experience as a social worker and clinical skills in - assessment, counselling, advocacy, referral to community services and discharge planning in a health/rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience working in a health setting with adults with a physical or cognitive disability
  • Demonstrated competence in communication skills - written and verbal, negotiation, conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated commitment to participation in supervision and professional development
  • Computer skills and demonstrated competency
