SIMEC Mining, a member of GFG Alliance, has operations in SA and NSW. Our Iron Ore operation in South Australia’s Middleback Ranges South of Whyalla; consist of three primary sites: Iron Baron, Iron Knob and the South Middleback Ranges. The Alliance also owns a portfolio of non-ferrous mining assets located in South Australia. This includes the Ardrossan Dolomite Mine – which supplies dolomite flux to Liberty’s Whyalla Steelworks – as well as a collection of copper-gold exploration projects. Whyalla is a diverse coastal community based approximately 400 km from Adelaide.

About the role

An exciting opportunity has become available for an Operator Maintainer/Fitter to join our Pelletising Team. The position reports to the relevant Shift Team Leader working 12 hour shifts.
Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Performing planned preventative and corrective maintenance to ensure the condition and productive capacity of the Plant assets meets targets and delivers sustainable operations.
  • Demonstrate ability to identify faults through the use of fault finding techniques with the ability to troubleshoot and rectify problems.
  • Correctly operate the plant and equipment to ensure the condition and productive capacity of the Plant assets meets targets and delivers sustainable operations.
  • Working in a professional, timely and safe manner following all SIMEC Mining’s standards and procedures
About your experience

Key criteria:

  • Must hold a current Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

To be successful in the role you will be a self-starter with the drive to complete any task you are given. This role will challenge and reward you; it will see you work in a strong team with a focus on safety performance and customer satisfaction. Those that hold a current and relevant dual electrical-instrumentation trade may be viewed favourably.
