Werribee Mercy Hospital is seeking an exceptional Nurse Manager to manage the Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA), Medical Day Stay (MDS) and Hospital in the Home (HITH) Department.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

As the Nurse Unit Manager you will be responsible for the day to day operational management of the DOSA, MDS and HITH services at Werribee Mercy Hospital, ensuring continued high quality clinical practice and patient care is delivered to every patient all the time. The Nurse Unit Manager will also be responsible for identifying and implementing quality improvement initiatives within these departments and across the broader organisation.   • Management of DOSA, MDS and HITH
  • Responsible for over 25 registered nurses across three complex services
  • Provide effective leadership and strategic direction within the unit to ensure high quality clinical practices and patient care within the relevant clinical units
  • Monitor and manage the day to day operational running of all three services, within the allocated department resources and budget.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships internally with other departments, and with external stakeholders to facilitate excellent patient care.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA
  • Post Graduate Degree (or working towards) in health services administration or management, or similar qualification (desirable).
  • Minimum 5 years post graduate Nursing experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Mercy Health Strategic Plan 2018-22, Mercy Health Staff Safety Plan 2019-22, and Mercy Health Quality Framework 2017-20.
  • Proven leadership and change management experience
  • Effective financial and people management skills
  • Demonstrated clinical innovation with high level change management

Werribee Mercy Hospital is a General Public Hospital located in the rapidly growing western suburbs of Melbourne. Our services include perioperative and specialist procedural services, general medicine, maternity, newborn, renal dialysis, emergency, mental health, rehabilitation, aged and palliative care and an intensive care unit (ICU).

The hospital has recently undergone an $85 million major capital expansion with the opening or our new intensive care unit, 6 brand new operating theatres, a state of the art central sterilising department, and the opening of three new inpatient wards, taking the total number of beds at Werribee Mercy Hospital to 298.
