GIS Analyst/ Consultant

As part of the continued growth and innovation of the Digital technical community, ERM ANZ is now seeking an experienced self-starting GIS Consultant with strong technical skills and experience in GIS, Web GIS and field data capture technologies. As part of our national team, you will work on large environmental projects across Australia and New Zealand, and support ERM’s projects worldwide. You may be based in Sydney or Melbourne.

Smarter, better integrated use of data is perhaps the theme of today’s EHS world. Data has the power to drive decision making yet organizations across sectors are struggling to make sense of and organize their data so they can fully realize its value.

Our data analytics & visualisation team works closely with subject matter and domain experts to make sense of the data and translate their data assets into actionable insights that can improve business outcomes including cost and time savings, risk reduction and improved reputation. We leverage the data asset to describe what is happening in the business, diagnose problems, identify causal factors and build predictive models for managing decision making more proactively.

To support the successful delivery of ERM projects and objectives by:

  • Provide technical consulting skills to support the growth of ERM’s service offerings using ESRI's full suite of desk and cloud-based geospatial applications.
  • Provide geospatial planning and support for field activities associated with environmental, social, and sustainability projects.
  • On a daily basis provide GIS mapping support for reports and proposals.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Complete work assignments in accordance with ERM's management system, format and quality standards.
  • Participate in and support a technically-oriented business development processes including proposal writing and preparation of methods statements.


  • BS or Master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Between 2 to 5 years of experience.
  • Experience with producing high quality map outputs, developing field data collection applications and conducting analysis using the full suite of ESRI software (ArcPro or ArcMap and ArcGIS Online) is required.
  • Experience in Web GIS, AutoCAD and programming skills in Python, Torch and API development would be beneficial
  • Effective written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills; experience recording/writing detailed technical data and reports.
  • Attention to detail, ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and works independently with minimal supervision.
  • Exceptional teamwork and relationship building skills
  • Previous consulting experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • High appreciation and understanding of Health & Safety standards
