Business Group Leader - Tailings

We have an outstanding leadership opportunity for a Business Group Leader - Tailings to lead our South Queensland Tailings Group based in Brisbane to work with our existing Tailings and Mine Waste team.

As the Business Group Leader - Tailings, you will work closely with the General Manager South Queensland, across multidisciplinary projects, bids and proposals to develop and significantly grow GHD's presence and market share across the tailings and mine waste industry. The role will provide leadership in developing and delivering tailings projects and also leading and mentoring a team of engineers and technical specialists.

Working on a diverse range of projects and clients, you will:

  • Develop and realise business opportunities, and ensure sustainable growth of the Tailings group revenues
  • Manage Business Group performance, people, and resources
  • Provide vision and direction for the South Queensland Tailings business that links with GHD's Australian market strategy, and input into the Region Market Strategy
  • Be well-connected and influential, building and developing relationships with existing and potential clients and partners, with a focus on business development
  • Provide leadership to the Business Group in line with GHD's values and objectives
  • Build effective relationships with other Business Group Leaders and with Market Leaders within the Region. 
About you:
  • You will have a technical background, with a BSc. Civil Engineering with geotechnical knowledge (preferably RPEQ status)
  • 15+ years professional experience within an engineering consultancy
  • Demonstrated technical capability across tailings engineering, including all project phases from planning and approvals to operation and closure
  • Effective & proven business development, networking and client relationship management skills
  • Ability to develop lasting client relationships based on trust and delivery excellence
  • Proven background in delivering projects from proposal to completion
  • Detailed knowledge of ANCOLD, ICOLD and other industry guidelines and be connected into networks across the industry
  • Ability to mentor and train team members
  • Provide technical leadership, often in multi-disciplinary teams for planning, feasibility studies and detailed design project phases.
