Drill & Blast - Expression Of Interest

Cadia’s next block cave development project has commenced and we are seeking Expressions of Interests from qualified Mining Engineers who are passionate about exploring new mining methods and furthering a career in Drill & Blast.

Reporting to the Projects Superintendent, you will be responsible for providing the required operational technical support for our Undercutless Caving Trial and other Drill and Blast projects at Cadia.

The key deliverables of this role are to:

  • Complete all aspects of Drill and Blast design works (drill, hole prep and charge plans)
  • Provide necessary inputs and support to Weekly/RMP Scheduler
  • Provide direct operational technical support for Drill & Blast activities and associated works for the projects
  • Assist in updating and maintaining Drill and Blast procedures and processes

Looking to the future, this person will be able to grow into roles directly connected to the UG Panel Cave Expansion.

This a residential role based in Orange, NSW and the current roster for this role is 5 days on / 2 off.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will be safety focused, enjoy continuous improvement and have a passion for drilling and blasting.

Our ideal applicants will either be motivated mining graduates with some experience in Drill and Blast operations, or experienced Drill and Blast Engineers keen to further their skill set by learning new mining methods.

You will ideally possess:

  • A tertiary qualification as a Mining Engineer
  • Professional experience in the Drill and Blast area including exposure to hard rock underground mining
  • Well-rounded stakeholder management experience and excellent communication skills
