The Opportunity

Our unique offering and strong growth have created the need for an Urban Design & Economics Consultant to join our team. We are looking for an experienced Consultant who is passionate about providing evidence-based design decisions and solutions for the administration, development and use of land.

The successful candidate will participate in a range of tasks but your primary focus will be to provide insightful analysis on existing, current and up-coming planning policies, macro and micro economic trends whilst supporting the design of new places and communities.

About You

As the Urban Design & Economics Consultant your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing and communicating design concepts using free hand or computer programs such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite as to a wide audience;
  • Researching, collating and analysing data to support insights that assist in delivering an evidence-based design solution and an economically viable development project;
  • Providing a range of administration and advice according to economic, demographic, physical and environmental factors affecting land use;
  • The analysis and interpretation of economic data of the residential, retail and commercial market to inform strategic land use;
  • Contributing to advice on project visioning and design in relation to the macroeconomic context and microeconomic developments;
  • Assisting with determining space and land use requirements, the highest and best use of land, along with the costs involved; and
  • Performing market research, preparing basic feasibility studies, evaluating risks and returns of the land/property development project.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of continuous experience in Urban Design & Economics ideally within a professional services environment and possess the following:

  • A passion for the built environment, urban design and economic land use (essential);
  • A proficient knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp (essential);
  • Strong communication, presentation and writing skills with an eye for detail (essential);
  • Confidence to provide technical and design advice to clients;
  • Demonstrated experience in urban renewal and new communities’ projects;
  • Freehand sketching ability;
  • An understanding of economic and land use principles and methodologies (such as feasibility analysis, competition analysis etc) with previous experience of applying these;
  • Research and analytical skills, with the ability to formulate solutions to urban design issues
  • Ability to apply design skills at all scales and types of urban design projects;
  • Exceptional production and communication skills with a strong attention to detail and proactive work ethic;
  • A strong commitment to client service; and
  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Design as well as relevant tertiary qualifications in Economics, Commerce or Property Development.
