My client is one of Australia's largest tier one contractors. They have billions of dollars of work underway across Australia and billions more of work in hand.
You will initially be working on a major rail / civil project in the inner North of Melbourne.
We're not looking for a safety policeman. We need someone who works collaboratively with field staff and supports them to get the job done as safely as possible, whilst also ensuring that all relevant legislative requirements are met and internal paperwork is completed to the requisite standard.
You'll also need to be very comfortable in dealing with HSR's and the often grey areas between OHS issues and industrially motivated ones.
The candidate we're looking for needs to have a minimum of six years experience as an OHS professional on civil or rail projects.
A Cert IV or above qualification in OHS is an advantage but not essential.
In addition to your previous experience & qualifications, we seek someone who is:
Understanding of Rail Safety Legislation is a bonus but not essential.
To be successful in this role you will need to possess outstanding people skills and be able to develop working relationships quickly with Workers and Supervisors alike.
A solid understanding of the systems side of safety is a must, as are intermediate IT skills. You must be able to write your own SWMS, TRAs etc - with appropriate input from workers and Supervisors of course.
To sum up what we're looking for in addition to the experience and competencies outlined above, it's someone who has a genuine passion for safety and wants to play a role in ensuring a culture of OHS vigilance, accountability, ownership, awareness and leadership.
This is an outstanding long term career opportunity with one of Australia's largest Tier one contractors.
If you have the experience we seek and are up for the challenge, we look forward to hearing from you.
