Communications Support Officer

If you have experience in social marketing, written communications and engagement, plus you like getting around our city via active travel, then Council’s Travel Behaviour Change team would like to hear from you.
 

This is a diverse role within the Travel Behaviour Change team that includes Cycling Brisbane (see www.cyclingbrisbane.com.au) and Active School Travel.

 

Tasks will include drafting web and newsletter content, assisting at photo shoots, liaising with designers and Corporate Communications to help create high quality collateral and confidently talk to members of the public at events to inform them and encourage them to actively travel. You will be involved in briefing external and internal contacts to create maps, online forms, surveys, competitions, posters and more.
 

Experience managing social media channels such as Instagram would be useful, as well as knowledge of the practical applications of social marketing and behaviour change. If you’ve worked on projects related to bikes or active travel, then let us know. New ideas are often explored by the team and you will be encouraged to contribute yours.
 

The role will require you to work closely other communications professionals to ensure Council’s branding, procurement and key messages are delivered to a high standard for the programs. You’ll also need to work well within a team environment, have good time management skills and be well organised.      |

There may also be a variety of tasks to deliver other initiatives, as outlined in Council’s Transport Plan. 

Key focus areas will also require you to:

  • assist with the evaluation and implementation of communication, social marketing and community engagement strategies
  • assist with writing editing proofing, sourcing quotes, production and budgeting
  • actively assist with community engagement initiatives 
  • develop positive working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
