Tasmanian Irrigation's (TI) primary aim is to grow the wealth of Tasmania by developing and enhancing the productive capacity of the State's agricultural industries. TI currently operate 16 irrigation schemes throughout the State and have one under construction. With Federal and State funding totalling more than $170m on top of its existing investment, TI is committed to a significant number of new irrigation schemes extending out over the next decade right across the State. To support this long term capital investment program and recognising the need for an elevated oversight of all environmental functions and responsibilities across the organisation, we are searching for a Manager, Environmental Services to be based in Launceston reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

As a key manager within the Senior Leadership team your primary objective will be to oversee the effective implementation of the organisation's Environmental Policy providing executive level leadership and management for a key service for the business, environmental sustainability, whilst effectively developing and managing a variety of internal and external stakeholder relationships. You will also lead and develop the Environmental Services team.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following skills and competencies;

  • Relevant Tertiary qualifications supported by substantial experience and expertise in implementing Federal and State environmental legislation
  • 5-8 years senior management experience ideally in the water or other service utility industry
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a partnership approach focussed on pragmatic outcomes across a range of stakeholders including funding agencies and State and Federal governments
  • Experience developing procedures and processes related to monitoring and assessing environmental compliance
  • Excellent conceptual and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyse evidence, interrogate data, understand, quantify and manage risks
  • An ability to remain abreast of technology, advancements in science and environmental and sustainability concepts.
