The Role:

The Executive Director of People & Culture will work closely with all BGIS professionals across the APAC region in all functions of the People & Culture team, that being Human Resources, Learning & Development, Recruitment and Payroll. This position is a 9-month Fixed Term Maternity Contract, it can be based out of either BGIS Sydney or Melbourne offices.

The role requires a proactive management approach and must ensure that BGIS is aware, resourced and prepared to meet the prospective needs of the business moving forward.

  • Direct management of 6 employees across APAC
  • Have cost-effective approaches to people management activities through improved productivity and optimisation of processes/programs/resources
  • Support the business on Employee Relations and Industrial Relations strategy including being able to constructively use industrial relations/workplace legislation to achieve productive outcomes
  • Provide sound guidance and advice to management and team members on human resources management related matters in accordance with applicable legislation and internal policies and processes
  • Monitor the progress & quality/effectiveness of annual performance cycle including enhancing job descriptions and performance agreements to ensure clarity, consistency and clear purpose
  • Provide support to managers and employees through professional, relevant and timely advice and guidance ensuring compliance with legal and industrial obligations
  • Investigate and resolve employee relations matters
  • Consults with internal or external legal counsel where required
  • Collaborate with relevant human resources management team members and external vendors to address specialized human resources management-related matters including but not limited to recruitment, benefits, compensation, training
  • Maintain employee adherence to the company's policies and procedures and act as a communication channel between management and employees to maintain positive relationships
  • Manage and advise on all financial and commercial aspects of the team

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in the leadership, management and mentoring of staff
  • More than 10 years of work experience in a human resources generalist role
  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Management
  • Experience with Unions, negotiation of EBA’s and Award interpretation.
  • Knowledge and experience on contemporary HR practices and strategies.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, as we as highly developed interpersonal, coaching, negotiation and consultative skills
  • Advanced consulting skills along with a high degree of business acumen and ability to accurately assess business issues and provide sound advice and solutions
  • Strong relationship management abilities with ability to develop and maintain relationships with individuals at all position levels
