Emergency Response Specialist

The Project

As an industry leader in lithium and lithium derivatives, one of the highest growth markets in the specialty chemicals industry, Albemarle is currently constructing a lithium processing Plant within the Kemerton Strategic Industrial Area located close to the regional Western Australian City of Bunbury.

The Plant will process ore from the Talison Mining operation at Greenbushes to produce lithium hydroxide, value adding by downstream processing with first production scheduled in 2021.

The Role

Reporting to the Health, Safety, Environment and Training Manager, the Emergency Response Specialist will provide strategic level emergency response direction for the business.  The role will be a senior member of the HSE team and will lead emergency response activities across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance the emergency response component of the HSE Management System so that it meets the requirements of recognised international standards;
  • Provide strategic level advice to the business to ensure ongoing compliance with internal/external standards and legislative requirements;
  • Maintaining and executing the businesses’ Emergency Response Management Plan;
  • Plan, schedule and execute emergency response training across the business;
  • Ensure a high level of operational readiness of emergency response teams and assets
  • Site security and the management of small contractor teams
  • Support the HSE team in delivering Operational Excellence.

The Candidate

To be successful in the role you will need to demonstrate the following:

  • Recognised qualifications or demonstrable experience in a related field
  • Emergency response capability in an operational setting
  • Training and assessment qualification (desirable)
  • Strong attention to detail in planning
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skills – internal and external stakeholders

NB: The successful applicant will be required to pass a pre-employment medical and complete an on- onboarding process to verify employment history, qualification and police clearance.

The Offer

This is a permanent residential position located in the South West region of Western Australia offering an attractive salary package.

This role is based in our Australind Office and may require you to attend Perth EPCCM offices at times, until site based offices are constructed.

Relocation packages are available for applicants from outside the region for the permanent residential role.
