Senior Accountant

As demand changes so too will their locations of operation and diversity of investments and they are very optimistic regarding future opportunity for the business to grow - "never waste a good crisis" - Winston Churchill...They are currently seeking to appoint a talented Senior Accountant on a 6 month contract with strong likelihood for extension or conversion to permanency

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, as the Senior Accountant you will fulfil a Finance Manager style role as a 2IC, providing leadership and support to a small but talented finance & accounting team who report currently directly to the CFO. The role of the finance team is to provide an exceptional level of service and support to the business in order to deliver on their promise of providing successful client outcomes, playing a critical role as it provides accurate and timely financial information to the Group's leadership team, enabling them to effectively perform and manage against the strategy. The Senior Accountant will play an important role in ensuring the effective financial management and plan for the Group. This will include but not be limited to:-

  • Preparation of monthly/weekly cash flow forecast
  • Accurate delivery of monthly and year-end management accounts reporting to key stakeholders including balance sheet, profit and loss statement and cash flow
  • Timely completion of duties as per month end timetable
  • Investigation of all reconciliation variances and issues, reporting of variance analysis as required
  • Reconcile, manage and lodge all direct and indirect taxes (fulfilling regional quarterly/monthly indirect tax obligations as required)
  • Preparation of statutory reporting with an understanding of both AASB and IFRS
  • Assistance with the maintenance of budgets
  • Fixed Asset
  • Assistance with tax reporting including Company Tax & Payroll Support
  • Preparing audit schedules for the interim and year-end external audit
  • Lead transactional team members
  • Other Ad-hoc duties as required
  • Be able to process & review foreign currency transactions, intercompany invoices & reconciliations andmulti subsidiary transactions

About You

You will possess a proven track record in partnering with a business to ensure fast, accurate and well-informed decision making. You will be proactive and capable of working under minimal supervision and at times against tight deadlines, taking ownership for your work. As an effective problem solver, you will have a high attention for detail whilst always keeping the big picture in mind. You will work to build great relationships within the business, ensuring your status as a trusted advisor. You will be responsible for supporting business units within the group and all their financial and non-financial information needs.

Skills Required

  • CPA/CA qualified, ideally you will have gained technical financial reporting experienced and acquired management accounting expertise to compliment your technical reporting skill
  • The ability to cope with tight deadlines
  • A willingness to work flexibly when required to successfully close out regular reporting deadlines
  • Advanced MS Excel skills essential
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Experience in overseeing Finance transactional roles desirable
