About NSW Telco Authority

NSW Telco Authority is working with government agencies, and other partners to design and build the next generation of critical and non-critical operational communications services for NSW Government agencies, to better enable them to service and protect NSW communities.

This includes the Critical Communications Enhancement Program (CCEP), with an investment of $320 million by NSW Government, across four years to build an enhanced government radio network, a key role in the development of a national Public Safety Mobile Broadband (PSMB) capability, and the Regional Digital Connectivity and NSW Mobile Black Spot program among
others.

About the Role

The NSW Telco Authority is looking for a Transmission Engineer to join their team. This role will be responsible for designing and managing the development of telecommunications radio site infrastructure providing transmission and backhaul expertise.

Key accountabilities will include:

·                Contribute and adhere to transmission design guidelines and standards
·                Apply cost-effective design solutions for the Government Radio Network
·                Provide advice, analysis and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders on transmission planning, design and operation of the Government Radio Network
·                Provide microwave link analysis, fibre/leased line analysis, satellite backhaul analysis, capacity planning, spectrum planning, and drawing reviews.

About you
To be successful in this role you will be degree qualified in telecommunications, electronic or similar engineering. You are an experienced engineer with strong experience in transmission engineering.

The following skills will be highly regarded: ·                Advanced knowledge of microwave backhaul.

Advanced knowledge of fibre transmission.

Good knowledge of satellite backhaul.

Experience in P25, Public Safety, Push To Talk (PTT) or Mission Critical systems is highly desirable.

Any knowledge and experience in one or more of the following would be favourable: LTE, 5G, LANES, fixed wireless broadband, IoT

Please note - Regular travel may be required to Design & Construction partner offices in northern Sydney – usually 1-2 days per fortnight. Travel will be occasionally required to various radio sites throughout NSW – typically no more than 5% of time.  A current drivers license and White Card will be highly regarded.

Salary Grade 9/10, with the base salary for this role ranging from $110,745 to $122,038.
