About the role

Shoalhaven City Council is seeking an experienced Ranger to support and manage the day to day operations of the Rangers Team functions and staff.

The advertised salary is based on the grade of the position, comprising of 4 steps within the range shown. The starting salary is at Step 1 within the grade. Progression through the salary steps shall be based upon the achievement of performance objectives relating to the position.


Reporting directly to the Unit Manager – Ranger Services, the focus of this position is to:

  • Support and manage the day to day operations of the Rangers Team functions and staff.
  • Ensure processes and protocols are in place for the Rangers and Parking Team’s compliance with all relevant legislation and Council policies and ensure that risks are managed.
  • Provide excellent customer service in relation to the objectives of the Unit.

    Skills & Experience

    In order to be successful in the position, you will be/ possess:

  • Diploma in Management or equivalent
  • Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services or equivalent)
  • Eligibility for Justice of the Peace appointment
  • NSW Workcover Construction Certificate or ability to obtain
  • Firearms licence or ability to obtain
  • Ability to interpret legislation and policy and provide guidance to the team
  • Ability to undertake investigations
  • Ability to prepare complex written correspondence and reports
  • Class C Driver’s Licence

This position requires a current NSW Working with Children Check. Applicants are required to apply and pay for this check if not already obtained.
