Orchard Farm Manager - Large Scale Operation


This large scale operation is looking for an Orchard Farm Manager in central QLD. The role will have the responsibility of the overall farm management of 300+ hectares of orchard and all on farm staff. It’s a large-scale operation and the orchard farm manager is responsible for the safety, quality, financial and physical performance of the farm and as such will be highly skilled in all aspects of orchard management. In this role you will be responsible for implementing the short and long term business plans. You will be expected to drive the business and work with your manager to ensure success. You will be required to optimise the farm's performance and continue to build & support the team in accordance with the company policies.

Based in Central QLD, the role would suit a hands on, energetic and ‘on the go’ person who can show leadership and stability in his / her roles (2-3 years) as we are looking for long term cultural fit. The role is full time, an on farm house is available and vehicle will be provided. You will want to become part of this team and ideally you come from fresh produce orchard background, although for the right person other orchard experience could be acceptable as well. Someone from citrus and other soft fruit tree crops would be ideal. Salary is generous including an incentive scheme and vehicle.

Key Selection Criteria:

  • Experience within agricultural or horticultural industry.
  • Proven stability in roles (2-3 years)
  • Safety management systems
  • Managing and maintaining fresh care system / HACCP.
  • Training and management of staff as well as people management skills
  • Communication and training skills
  • Good time management as the peak season is extremely busy
  • Ability to manage competing priorities
  • Be able to provide role clarity and ensure teamwork amongst staff
  • Be self motivated and able to communicate effectively at all levels within and outside of the company
