Hobart Pathology is one of three semi-autonomous laboratory divisions operated in Tasmania by Diagnostic Services Pty Ltd. The other laboratories are North West Pathology and Launceston Pathology.  The services of the three laboratories are integrated under one management structure and to ensure efficiency and effectiveness, the laboratories are mutually supportive for both staffing and specialised testing. Each division, however, independently offers a comprehensive range of tests and services.  The three laboratories maintain a seven-day a week, 24-hour service.

About The Role:

  • An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Technical Officer to join our busy biochemistry laboratory on a full-time basis for a period of 2 years.
  • The role will include rotating through our automated biochemistry department with potential specialisation for the right candidate in our NATA Accredited drug lab and/or our protein electrophoresis laboratory.
  • The position will require you to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team.
  • The hours will vary to meet the operational & organisational requirements and will include weekends and public holidays.

About You:

  • Appropriately qualified - previous experience in biochemistry or within a diagnostic laboratory would be advantageous
  • Theoretical knowledge of current biochemical testing practices
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to work in a team environment without direct supervision
  • An understanding of quality control techniques
  • Proficient, motivated and highly organised with great attention to detail
  • Must be able to live and work in Australia for a period of at least 2 years
