The Institute for Integrated and Intelligent Systems (IIIS) was established in 2003 to enhance Griffith's ICT research environment that can stimulate world class research. In the latest 2012, 2015, 2018 ERA ratings, its Artificial Intelligence and Image Processing research group at Griffith University (FOR code 0801) was continuously rated 4 (above world standard) - the only group that consecutively achieved 4 or above in the state of Queensland.

The research projects in IIIS address fundamental problems and help form strong partnerships with industry. We conduct applied research that has the potential for commercialisation and can be a benefit to the community. By creating a stimulating research environment that fosters innovation and mentors young scientists, IIIS provides a world-class centre for research in integrated and intelligent systems.

The opportunity
The Research Fellow will join the Griffith-Data61 Business Process and Legal Informatics project jointly funded by CSIRO Data61. The position involves collaboration with CSIRO Data61 Business Process and Legal Informatics Team. It is imperative that the Research Fellow contributes to the research reputation and profile of the Institute, through including but not limited to top tier journal and conference publications, patents, public lectures, seminars, and media releases.

The Research Fellow is responsible for contributing to one or more areas of research within the Institute. The position also provides some administrative assistance to the senior staff members of the research team and support to research group activities, field and laboratory training.

This is a fixed term (until 30 April 2023), full time position based at the Nathan campus. Griffith is a multi-campus university and therefore it is understood that this position will work across campuses as required.

The successful applicant may also be required to travel to and work at other participating partners of the project including travel to and work jointly with Dr Guido Governatori at Data61.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have a PhD in computer science or equivalent qualifications in a relevant field. You will have a strong desire to build a career in logic, knowledge representation, agent and multi-agent systems, legal informatics with the demonstrated ability to undertake research projects, including publishing in top tier journals and conferences in logic, applied logic for business processes and legal informatics. The Institute seeks an enthusiastic individual who is committed to becoming an integral part of the collaborative research team between Griffith University and Data61.

Salary range
Research Fellow Grade 1: $75,391 - $88,311 per annum. Salary package including 17% employer superannuation contribution: $88,208 - $103,324 per annum
