Centre Director

A small boutique Toowoomba childcare centre has an exciting opportunity for a passionate contact Centre Director. The Centre is a two room Kindergarten and Long day care Centre that provides care for up to 40 children between the ages of six weeks and five years of age. Located in a quiet residential area of Toowoomba, it offers a beautiful and relaxed learning environment.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to manage and lead a team of passionate educators and caregivers. The ethos of the Centre is to develop close and nurturing relationships with our families, and that children are educated and cared for in a way that fosters independence, self-reliance, and respect of others.

To be successful in this role you will have experience in a Centre Manager or 2IC role, demonstrating an ability to lead and manage all aspects of the daily running of the service including compliance and staff development. You will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage with families as well as working and reporting to members of the management team.

This Role will see you working on the floor as the room leader with non-contact time to fulfil your Centre Director role. You will work with all team members; guiding, supporting and inspiring best practice. You will be confident working in the room and be able to support your team to ensure the service and educators engage with the community.

The Centre fosters an environment that supports real rather than virtual experiences to support the child in forming a healthy relationship to the world. It promotes artistic activities such as cooking, gardening, music and art. The ideal candidate for this position would be a person who supports focus on the social, emotional and physical skills of the child, rather than stringent focus on teaching literacy and numeracy.

The Centre Director is responsible for supervising a dedicated team of caregivers and will be responsible for the day to day operations of the Centre, including:

  • Manage staff rosters
  • Deliver consistent, high-quality care
  • Interact with children and families in a positive, sensitive and respectful manner building strong, positive relationships
  • Manage the budgets of the Centre
  • Support and oversee all educators to plan and implement child centred, high-quality educational programs based on children’s strengths and interests
  • Support our staff to guide children's behaviours inclusively to ensure the best outcomes for the children
  • Lead, support and mentor our team of motivated educators using consultative, interpersonal and supervisory skills
  • Foster a culture of reflective practice, which leads to the continued development and improvement of the service
  • Implement sound knowledge of the Approved Learning Frameworks
  • Use effective time management skills
  • Actively contribute to ensuring the service achieves its goals
