Assistant Accountant

The position

We are looking for a part-time Assistant Accountant (21 hours per week) to cover Maternity leave up to a period of 12 months.

This role is responsible for performing accounting duties related to the efficient maintenance and processing of accounts payable transactions and general ledger transactions. Your duties will include

  • Review and verify invoices to be sent to the Shared Service Centre (based in Singapore – SFSC)
  • Liaise with internal parties to raise/review purchase orders
  • Liaise with the SFSC to sort, code and match invoices and answer any queries they may have
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
  • Completion of new supplier forms for registration in ERP system
  • Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments (miscellaneous/ad hoc payment runs, GST Returns, Payroll Tax, Inter-account transfers).
  • Customer receipt allocations and weekly bank reconciliations (xKM).
  • Assist Accountant and Finance Manager with month end closing
  • Performing general ledger account reconciliations – post journals and transactions and work with the SFSC to review the Balance Sheet Monthly.
  • Track credit card expenses and follow up employees to ensure payments are made on time
  • Maintain Fixed Asset Register – including the raising of Purchase Orders and month end depreciation.
  • Submission of online Payroll Tax/GST and PAYE NZ Returns
  • Provide supporting documentation for audits
  • Maintain confidentiality of organisational information

Ideally, you will have knowledge of accounts payable and general accounting procedures, with a minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position. Knowledge of relevant accounting software preferred (but not essential) in - Baan, Basware/Citrix, AX.
