In this vital role as a Combat Systems Operator - Mine Warfare, you’ll be trained to operate cutting edge sensor technology onboard some of the most advanced ships in the world. As a sailor, you’ll be classified as a Weapons User category and part of the Action Information Organisation, requiring you to master the operation of a variety of small arms and a 12.7mm heavy machine gun.
You’ll work as part of a tight-knit team using mine hunting and minesweeping techniques to identify, prevent or destroy minefields at sea—putting you at the heart of the action.
This is a role where you can really make a difference—travelling around the world to hunt down and remove the threat of mines.
Prior experience isn’t needed. After about 6 months of initial training, you’ll become one of just 90 highly skilled sailors who make up the core of the Mine Warfare Force.

Be paid to train and learn the skills required to become a qualified Combat Systems Operator Mine Warfare. Upon completion of your initial military and initial employment training, you’ll enjoy a competitive starting salary package of up to: $81,494 including service and uniform allowances, as well as a Maritime Disability Allowance (if applicable).
In addition to your salary, you will receive generous superannuation, housing subsidies and free medical and dental.
For this role, you must be over 17 at time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen and have passed Year 10 English and Maths.
