About the role

SANE Support is the umbrella term for the support offerings provided by SANE – 1:1 counselling by phone, webchat or email; self-help information and tools; and peer support through the SANE Forums.

This role works on the SANE Forums specifically, which provides online peer support for people living with complex mental health issues and their family, friends and carers. The service is free, anonymous and moderated 24/7 by mental health professionals.

This role is responsible for ensuring the SANE Forums are welcoming, engaging and there is a safe healthy online community of peers for people with complex mental health issues and their friends, family and carers.

The Online Community Engagement Coordinator is key to the day-to-day operations of promoting connection and belonging for the community through shared experiences, engagement activities and the processes and platform that enables them. From time to time, this role involves working flexible hours, including some evenings and domestic travel.

Qualifications & Experience

Qualifications - please respond to the following criteria in your cover letter.
  • Degree or equivalent in public health, psychology, social work, community development, mental health or a related field.
Experience - please respond to the following criteria in your cover letter.
  • Experience working with or being an active member of an online community
  • Experience working with vulnerable groups or individuals (on or offline)
  • Demonstrated experience training/coaching/supporting others in a workplace, including giving feedback.
  • Demonstrated experience in working independently and/or within a remote team
  • Desirable – Completed ASIST training (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) or equivalent
  • Desirable – Experience working with Khoros Forum platform
  • Knowledge of online community management
  • Confidence working and communicating in a digital environment.
