What you'll be doing

The Primary Purpose of the Senior Mental Health Clinician position is to provide evidence based acute clinical mental health care to people in the community; to lead and champion practice improvement through participation in strategic and operational planning, quality improvement, and service development; to provide leadership in mentoring, clinical supervision, education and training; and to participate in evaluation, research and other activities.

Essential Criteria:

Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Social Work & Clinical Nurse Consultant - at least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and in addition who has approved post registration nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to the field in which he/she is appointed, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the public hospital or public health organisation
Registration: Full Registration with AHPRA; Eligibility to be a member of AASW for Social Workers

Selection Criteria:

  1. Experience and clinical skills in community mental health triage, comprehensive assessments, including risk and safety planning as well as experience in provision of collaborative care and discharge planning.
  2. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with consumers/carers/families and has experience working with families who are coping with Mental Health Illness.
  3. Highly developed interpersonal communications skills, effective verbal, written and negotiation skills and intermediate computer skills.
  4. Experience and knowledge in acute mental health intervention, early intervention, and CALD issues.
  5. Understanding of the recovery philosophy and trauma informed care in Mental Health with the ability to implement these in clinical practice.
  6. Experience in mentoring, clinical supervision, education and training; experience in developing and implementing quality improvement activities/projects.
  7. Understanding of NSW Mental Health Act (2007).
  8. Current Drivers Licence valid within Australia (P2 acceptable) willing to use it for work purpose.
