The Position

St John of God Hawkesbury Hospital, 

provides a wide range of services caring for inpatients, outpatients and day patients across a range of specialties including maternity, medical and surgical; offering state of the art equipment and facilities to our rapidly growing community.

A vacancy now exists for a Social Worker (Grade 2) within the Allied Health department to provide inpatient and outpatient services consisting of social work assessments, interventions and evaluations at an advanced practice level for complex and general caseload/s. Additionally, this will include providing social work services to DVA, TAC and WorkCover patients.

Candidates with tertiary qualifications in Social Work including eligibility for membership with the Australian Association of Social Work who are flexible and have demonstrated senior clinical experience will be highly regarded.

As a direct result of continual growth in service provision of the Allied Health Department, this will be offered as a permanent full-time position working 76 hours per fortnight or as a permanent part time position.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.

  • Degree in Social Work, eligibility for membership to the AASW and Current NSW Driver’s License and willingness to drive.

  • Demonstrated advanced clinical skills including knowledge, assessment, intervention and evaluation within the Social Work clinical speciality.

  • Demonstrated team skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Ability to work independently within various multidisciplinary teams.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Case Management Principles advanced administrative, prioritisation and organisational skills.

  • Demonstrated advanced interpersonal verbal and written communication skills (including ability to communicate using Medium to high compute literacy)

  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct learning, including identifying gaps in skills and knowledge and developing strategies for enhancement.

  • Demonstrated experience in areas of geriatric aged care, carer/family conferences, guardianship tribunal, Aboriginal Health and elder abuse.

  • Current knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements in the areas of Equal Opportunity, Disability Services and Work Health and Safety, and how these impact on employment, people management and service delivery

  • Recent acute care experience

  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting the Coordinator of Social Work and the Social Work Service by communicating issues and areas for continuous improvement.
