HomePlace Host is an innovative program, which offers people living with a disability the opportunity to have an experience away from their family, where they can make new friendships, be independent, learn new skills and get out and about.
HomePlace Hosts welcome a person with a disability into their family home, usually for weekends. The host supports the participant through inclusion into their own life, increased social connection, active participation in community and development of life skills.
Hosts come from all different lifestyles and cultural backgrounds, and can be single, in a couple or part of a family.
It is anticipated that most Hosts will have experience in supporting individuals living with a disability. The most important attributes to have are a positive and caring attitude to people living with a disability and an ability to make a commitment.
More information about the HomePlace Host program is available in the attached video and documents.
