About the Centre/Service Thornbury Kindergarten is a well-established, community-run kindergarten. It is situated at the northern end of Thornbury, and children from all over Darebin are enrolled at the kindergarten. The Thornbury Kindergarten team is highly committed and experienced, striving to provide a rich, stimulating, safe and fun learning environment and also strongly committed to child safety as we want children to be happy and empowered. We work to promote the safety, wellbeing and inclusion of all children. The Kindergarten is recognised for its leading Bush Kinder program and the Out & About program and has a continued focus on providing innovative and quality sessions for children enrolled. The Kindergarten consists of four 4 year old programmes and two 3 year old programmes.
Work Days of the Role Spread over three days including Thursday and Friday (with the 3rd day of either a Monday or Tuesday)
Hours of Work of the Role 17 hours per week
Description As a thriving and developing service, Thornbury Kinder has a current opening for the position of an Administration Manager. As a community-run kindergarten, a Committee of Management comprising a group of parents elected, is responsible as the employer and for the overall running of the service. This position will ensure the smooth running of the administration of the kindergarten on behalf of the Committee, reporting regularly on the operations of the facility. You will work closely with the Committee/Key players in relation to finances, enrollment, compliance and other areas as required. Key elements of the position include service delivery, such as responding to requests from families and external organisations, record management, accounting/payroll support and general administrative duties to assist with the kindergarten's operations, whilst adhering to requirements of policies and procedures. The successful candidate will work as part of an experienced and dedicated team and includes working closely with the Educational and Team Leader.
Qualifications In this role, we are seeking previous experience in administrative procedures and financial accounts (especially if you have already worked in a Kindergarten environment) and with a proven ability to plan, work and manage time effectively with limited direction and supervision. You will come to the role with experience in administrative work, knowledge of office procedures and records management, able to prepare simple budgets, reconciliations and support day-to-day financial management. The ability to work as a member of a team and effective communication skills, including both written and verbal skills are key to this position. Working in a cooperative and professional manner, with other staff, the Committee and all others who contact or interact with the kindergarten will see you be most successful in this role. Holding a current Working with Children Check (or equivalent) and Police Check is essential in this position.
