About you:

You will have previous experience working as a team leader and professional cleaner in a culturally diverse environment and have demonstrated ability in the use of the equipment and chemicals involved with this role. You will ensure that a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness of all facilities is maintained and contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the site by providing a high level of cleaning support. You have ability to work in a team and develop working relationships with operational and Australia Border Force (ABF) employees. You ensure service delivery is of a high standard and that all contractual obligations are met and aim to continually improve processes where possible. You are a respectful and professional person who demonstrates exceptional moral values in everything you do.

About the role:

We are seeking a leading hand with professional cleaning experience for a full-time position based at the Melbourne Immigration Transit Accommodation (MITA) in Broadmeadows VIC reporting to the Cleaning Supervisor. You will effectively manage the daily supervision of cleaning staff, ensuring 100% task completions and compliance. Action all directives given by Cleaning Supervisor and Garrison Manager. Actively observe, evaluate and administer the correct management techniques and methods in accordance to Serco policies, procedures and governing principles. Successfully deliver the overall on-site operation including the accurate submission of day to day timesheets and reporting systems. Ensure all cleaning duties are completed within required deadlines. Use all equipment in accordance with procedures and instructions and maintain in a clean condition, reporting faults or damage of equipment to the supervisor. The role involves manual handling and lifting, and you will be required to work both inside and in the outdoor areas. You will need to be available to be rostered across all days of the week including public holidays, covering shifts between the hours of 12pm – 9.30pm. You will have alternate weekends off.

To be successful in this role you will have

  • The highest levels of personal integrity and ethical behaviour
  • Certificate III in Asset Maintenance - Cleaning Operations (essential)
  • Training in the safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment (desirable)
  • Ability to maintain OHS standards in the workplace
  • Report daily to the Cleaning Supervisor of any issues that may relate to cleaning failures and building faults
  • Current Full Drivers Licence

This is a position of trust and responsibility and to support this we will conduct a thorough probity assessment, which includes national police check as an essential selection component for this role.
