About the role

We are searching for an enthusiastic, friendly and self-motivated Leisure and Lifestyle Coordinator to encourage and support residents to participate in a wide range of activities of interest to them.

Working as part of a friendly and close-knit team, your focus will be:

  • Ensure programs are prepared based on the Montessori principles of “relate, motivate and appreciate” to facilitate active resident engagement in activities and promote enablement of the individual.
  • Complete comprehensive assessments of resident’s leisure and health needs and develop timetables, individualised leisure and health program plans from the results of the assessment
  • Schedule programs using clinical judgement to establish frequency, intensity and duration of leisure and health programs
  • Plan and coordinate activities for resident’s living with dementia and other complex needs, which facilitate active engagement and enablement of the individual, and aim to maintain independence, using familiar routines and existing skills
  • Coordinate, supervise Lifestyle Assistants, and provide mentoring supervision to all staff in the provision of lifestyle programs based on the Montessori principles.

Skills & experience

  • Diploma in Leisure and Health or equivalent
  • Current First Aid Certificate Level 2
  • Previous experience working in leading and supervising a team in an aged care facility
  • Understanding of the Montessori principles of resident care
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in Health Care/Aged Care information systems, Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook
