About the role

We are seeking a talented individual to take on the role of Belt Technician based within our Eastern Conveyor Maintenance Team at Jimblebar. The ideal candidate will have desire to work as a Step up Supervisor and assist with the day to day responsibilities for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of the Conveyor Systems at our Jimblebar Mine site.

Reporting directly to the Newman Operations Belt Execution Supervisor within the WAIO Maintenance Team, this role is responsible for collaborating with a number of different stakeholders and being a part of a highly skilled team of technicians to safely execute the mechanical maintenance of conveyor systems across the Eastern Pilbara region.

Your duties will include:

  • Follow the BHP Charter, Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations (including acting as a Section 44 Appointed person) 
  • Set and maintain clear safety standards with your team  
  • Be involved in safety investigations and risk assessments and provide quality reviews 
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities 
  • Timely data collation, analysis and sharing of key work management metrics 

Qualifications

To be considered for the role we are seeking out the following skill-sets:

  • Mandatory: West Australian C Class Manual Drivers Licence; and
  • Mandatory: Minimum five years experience in conveyor belt maintenance activities, this includes all work associated with the repair and servicing of on-site conveyor systems.

Experience and skills desirable:

  • Demonstrated computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Experience or a fast learner with work management software tools (e.g. 1SAP) 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Your role will rely heavily on engaging with multiple teams across WAIO Maintenance and a strong focus on stakeholder management and coaching the WAIO conveyor teams on core accountabilities and processes. Location 

You will be based at our ‘Jimblebar’ mine site on a fly-in fly-out job share roster working 8 days on, 6 days off. Jimblebar is a fully automated mine site and is located 40kms North East of Newman, Western Australia. The outstanding facilities at Warrawandu FIFO village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, golf driving nets, outdoor cinema, netted cricket pitch, tennis and basketball court; beach volleyball court, games room, music room and TV lounge. All rooms at the village have access to 3G wireless internet, an ensuite bathroom
