Care Manager


About the Role:

  • To maintain overall accountability and responsibility for the clinical management of health and care outcomes of the Care Recipients in the centre.
  • To ensure that skills and knowledge appropriate to delegate the task/authority has been considered when delegating health and care responsibilities to other professionals.
  • To exercise critical thinking within an evidenced based framework to ensure the delivery of high quality health and care services which promote optimal health outcomes for the Care Recipients.
  • To promote and support a person centred culture values, respect and treats all people as unique individuals with needs, preferences and a past history.
  • To provide leadership in the coordination of nursing and health care services.
  • To provide clinical leadership to nursing and care staff that supports and ensures continuing professional development and currency of practice.
  • To ensure the facility meets all regulatory compliance requirements in collaboration with the Centre Manager.
  • To deputise in the absence of the Centre Manager as required

Minimum Requirements of the role:

1. Previous management experience in a residential aged care facility
2. Demonstrated experience leading a multi-disciplinary health care team
3. Demonstrated knowledge in the care needs of the older person
4. Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal/communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to lead staff in the achievement of organizational goal and objectives within a team environment.
5. Understanding of and commitment to continuous quality improvement
6. Knowledge of all relevant Legislation, Regulatory requirements, Professional Standards and Guidelines applicable to work role and willingness to work within same.
7. Demonstrated industry knowledge with emphasis on ACFI, Infection Control, Quality Systems and Accreditation.
8. Problem solving and conflict resolution/negotiation skills.
9. Organisational and time management skills.
10. Demonstrated significant evidence of relevant post graduate and administrative management experience in the health care sector.

Additional Factors Essential:


  • Clinical Nurse qualifications and registration with AHPRA
  • Completion of or working towards a post graduate qualification in health management, aged care or related discipline
  • Sound knowledge of Government regulations affecting aged care.
  • High proficiency in all MS Office
  • National Police Clearance - Current
  • First Aid - Perform CPR - Current
  • Following Manual Handling - Current
