Finance Business Partner

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Finance professional to join the Finance team based out of AstraZeneca head office in Sydney.

As a Finance Business Partner, you will work closely with our biopharmaceutical business unit to provide financial support and guidance in managing the business P&L, revenue and costs. You will establish yourself to the business as a trusted partner, have excellent working relationships with them and will ensure all budget and reporting requirements are met and aligned to the business strategies.

In this commercial finance role, your responsibilities will be to:

  • support key business & investment decisions by identifying customer requirements, analysing issues, developing suitable options and enabling appropriate decision making based on strategic business need

  • embed value analysis in all activities/investment decisions/resource allocation

  • have extensive knowledge of all brand assumptions (price, competitor activity, access/regulatory changes) and initiatives and be part of the brand strategic plan to challenge the business and provide the financial point of view

  • understand competitor positions and products to analyse and validate budget submissions for sales and costs to ensure submissions are accurate, justifiable and sound

  • work proactively with the business to understand future financial information needs and produce efficient solutions to meet these needs

  • work with all stakeholders to ensure monthly financial data accurately reflects performance and that it is appropriately analysed, explained and communicated

  • lead the financial planning cycle in area of accountability; setting stretching but attainable performance targets and incentives, aligned to strategy and operational plans

  • work with other finance and cross functional team members to drive consistency in approach to data, files, analysis and reporting; supporting continuous improvement in finance processes and capabilities

To be successful, you will have:

  • CPA / CA qualification with an interest in further developing an understanding of AZA business activities

  • Highly developed business partnering and influencing skills

  • strong numerical, analytical and communication skills along with excellent attention to detail

  • ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines

  • outstanding interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively within and outside finance including mentoring those unfamiliar with finance processes

  • natural inclination to look beyond the “finance numbers” and ensure there is alignment with other information such as market share

  • demonstrable knowledge of global and corporate business context

  • SAP experience is desirable along with strong Excel skills to support modelling and presentations
