About the organisation

The Victorian Commission for Gambling and Liquor Regulation (VCGLR) is the independent statutory authority that administers Victoria's gambling and liquor laws. The opportunity

We have a fixed term contract opportunity for an Assistant Gambling Evaluations Officer, to assist the Licensing Management and Audit (LMA) team in the assessment, evaluation and determination of gambling products for use in Victoria. Reporting to the Principal Technical Officer, this role is responsible for assessing submissions received by the VCGLR to approve gambling machines, equipment and systems for use in Victoria, and provide general assistance to the approvals and the LMA team more broadly, as required.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a candidate with extensive gambling experience, who has a clear and developed understanding of the technical requirements/aspects of the gambling industry.

Key responsibilities

  • Process, assess, escalate and/or determine (where appropriate) a range of low to medium risk applications for licences and approvals under the Gambling Regulation Act 2003, Casino Control Act 1991, and other relevant legislation in accordance with legislative requirements and the VCGLR's policies, with a focus on applications seeking approval for new gambling products, systems and equipment (including electronic gaming machines, games for electronic gaming machines, totalisator systems, lottery systems and systems used for approved betting competition) and for modifications to those products, systems and equipment.
  • Assist with the monitoring of industry participants and products, including the conduct of on-site inspection where required.
  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of technical specifications for gambling products, systems and equipment that ensure protection of defined player entitlements, integrity of operations and auditability of operations.
  • Prepare correspondence to applicants and industry participants on low to medium risk/complexity applications and issues.
