About the role

As the Project Accountant reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager you will be based on site at our Peak Downs project and will work collaboratively towards delivering high-quality solutions and results.

This rewarding role will require you to provide professional advice and support to the project regarding its financial accountability and controls while ensuring financial performance targets are achieved.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Completing required EOM tasks as per the monthly schedule
  • Assisting with budgeting and forecasting as required
  • Assisting with variance analysis and monthly cost review meetings
  • Ensuring JDE entry is timely and accurate across the project and assist with queries from other JDE users on site
  • Preparing quarterly & annual information for Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns
  • Processing invoices for key suppliers
  • Preparing monthly reconciliations

Roster and Conditions

  • 5/2 - Monday to Friday roster with monthly RDO’s and full camp facilities provided
  • This is a 12 month maximum term contract, covering maternity leave.
  • The Peak Downs Project is situated outside of Dysart, in Central Queensland.  
About you

We are seeking an accounting professional who has a minimum of 2 years demonstrated experience in a similar position within the mining industry or similar. Furthermore, a comprehensive knowledge of relevant Australian and International accounting standards is required.

Other requirements for success in this role are:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business/Commerce majoring in Accounting or similar
  • Enrolled (or willing to enrol) in CA/CPA program
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and financial enterprise resource planning packages
